Legal Assistant/ Paralegal
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively under pressure, be detailed oriented, handle stressful situations, meet stringent time constraints, and possess very good verbal, written and organizational skills. The candidate must also be able to work independently and be adaptable to change
Assistant should have exceptional verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling- Set hearings, depositions, meditations and phone conferences.
- Heavy telephone use and calendaring of appointments.
- Coordinate dates with opposing counsel for all meetings and conferences.
- Handle the scheduling of court reporters on depositions and hearings.
- Secure videographer and interpreters when needed.
- Prepare documents, such as Notice of Hearing, Notice of Taking Depositions, and Notice of Mediation.
- Handle tasks or projects for secretaries.
- Must be computer and business-software proficient
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Preference for family & immigration litigation experience
- Preference for candidates with an associate’s or a bachelor’s degree
- Preference for local candidates
- Preference for candidates with a legitimate interest in the legal industry
- Preference for candidates looking for a long-term position
- Sorting and sending mail
- Initiating, answering and routing phone calls
- Maintaining electronic and paper files
