Brief Description
Primary duties include the protection and preservation of life and property on and around the university campus. Duties also include maintaining order, peace, and safety within the university community. Excellent customer service skills and good organizational skills are important characteristics for this position. Responsibilities require work to be performed at times other than normal business hours (this may include irregular hours, shift work and/or weekend assignments).
Additional hours may be assigned to coverage during special events. A campus safety officer must also possess sound moral character, integrity, and credibility in carrying out the various duties and responsibilities of a safety professional.

Salary Range: $20-21 hourly

Qualifications
- Must have and maintain State of California Security Guard Card certification or be willing to obtain within three months of hire
- Must have and maintain an unexpired motor vehicle driver’s license that is valid in California
- Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in potentially stressful circumstances
- Must have and maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or be willing to obtain within one month of hire
- Must have and maintain State of California OSHA forklift certification or be willing to obtain within three months of hire
- Personal relationship with Jesus, a vibrant Christian faith, and a commitment to Christian community; capable of sharing faith and engaging in conversations about Christ

- Supervises employees in accordance with Simpson University policies and procedures
- Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area
- Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor
- Work under the direction of the Campus Safety Coordinator to maintain safety and order for persons and property on and around the Simpson University Campus
- Perform patrol procedures that will promote the safety and wellbeing of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Simpson University
- Record and report violations of General Student Policies and Residence Life Policies as they are described in the Simpson University Student Handbook. Reports of these violations are sent to the Student Development Department for disciplinary disposition
- Responsibly represent members of Simpson University Administration when none are present on campus until appropriate notification can be made
- As a professional civilian witness, cooperate with members of the Redding Police Department, Shasta County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol so that detection of criminal activity and apprehension of suspects can be accomplished by the properly commissioned law enforcement officers or deputies
- Provide security support and traffic control during special campus events
- Coordinate with state and federal organizations as required in carrying out the duties of this job
