Overview : SimVentions is on the lookout for a talented Embedded Systems Software Engineer to join our dynamic government team, working on innovative and advanced systems. You will be tasked with coding for embedded microcontrollers and developing applications for Android and Desktop that interface with these systems.

Travel : Up to 10% travel within the Continental US may be required.

Clearance : An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is mandatory for this position. Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements :

  • 5 years of experience in embedded software development for microcontrollers or similar devices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Kotlin, and Java.
  • Familiarity with embedded software development for hardware is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of hardware architectures, microcontrollers, and communication protocols.
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot hardware-software interfaces at a low level using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Experience in writing test cases and conducting unit testing for hardware-software integration.
  • Knowledge of Android and Desktop graphical user interface (GUI) development.
  • Understanding of the TCP / IP protocol suite, including network stack integration and socket programming.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network-related issues involving configuration and data transmission.
  • Familiarity with Weapon Systems and Command & Control Systems.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with a focus on fielding new products.
  • Strong collaborative skills to meet established goals and program timelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities :

  • Engage in a diverse range of activities from coding embedded microcontrollers to developing applications for Android and Desktop.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software for new and existing systems.
  • Build and enhance Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Support the functionality and improvement of Desktop applications.
  • Facilitate testing and assessment of embedded systems both locally and at other sites.
  • Utilize software development best practices in alignment with government processes.
  • Stay informed on the latest hardware, technologies, and techniques in this evolving field.
  • Collaborate consistently with the government team through regular onsite meetings.
  • Preferred Skills and Experience :

    The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills.

    Education : A degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field is required.

    Compensation : Compensation at SimVentions is determined by multiple factors, including experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, and skills. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $99,540 - $135,000 (USD), reflecting the standard salary range and considering the overall compensation package offered by SimVentions.
