What are the responsibilities and job description for the HOLY CROSS ER TEAM LEADER RN position at Sinai Chicago?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Team Leader is a registered nurse assigned responsibility for coordinating care delivery and patient flow in the Emergency Department for a specified shift. The Team Leader operates within the framework of the Mission, Vision, and Values of Holy Cross Hospital.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
â–¡ 1. Receives report from Team Leader prior shift.
â–¡ 2. Determines shift assignments for all ED staff.
â–¡ 3. Serves as consult to nurses and physicians regarding policy and procedure; provides direction to nurses and physicians in processing patients through the ED patient encounter.
â–¡ 4. Insures routine shift tasks are assigned and completed (Crash Carts, Accu-check calibration, refrigerator checks, etc.)
â–¡ 5. Monitors patient activity for all areas (Triage, North ED, South ED, Waiting Rooms).
â–¡ 6. Works with the charge nurse on the North ED to facilitate patient flow and assure patients are assigned by acuity.
â–¡ 7. Facilitates capacity flow interventions.
â–¡ 8. Monitors waiting patients and assigns re-assessments as per policy.
â–¡ 9. Implements interventions to minimize LWOT’s (5%); maximizes resources to enhance productivity.
â–¡ 10. Communicates ED activity status and needs with ED Director or Nursing Supervisor. Collaborates with senior ED Physician regarding ED issues; notifies ED Medical Director as appropriate.
â–¡ 11. Provides oversight and direction to insure integrity of ED medical records.
â–¡ 12. Delegates responsibilities to others as necessary to achieve positive shift outcomes.
â–¡ 13. Insures completion of shift project tasks (quality improvement data collection, patient callbacks, etc.); reports issues with completion on shift report.
â–¡ 14. Documents problems, issues, concerns, and needs on shift report form; indicates shift census every 4 hours, # LWOT’s, patient throughput interventions.
â–¡ 15. Insures completion of required reporting documents and online requirements (occurrence reports, Bypass processes, etc.)
â–¡ 16. Monitors staff compliance with charge capture and Discharge Center routing; prompts staff as necessary.
â–¡ 17. Participates in staff performance evaluations.
â–¡ 18. Participates in 75% of Team Leader meetings; reviews minutes when absent.
â–¡ 19. Follows the Registered Nurse job description and ED nursing standards of practice in the delivery of care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education and licensure requirements:
â–¡ Registered Nurse Requirement
â–¡ Compliant with PPD Requirements
CPR, ACLS, PALS, ECRN certified
TNS or TNCC preferred
Experience:
â–¡ Two years ED experience
