General Summary / basic PURPOSE OF JOB :
Primary job; measures nervous system function using electroencephalograph (EEG), perform duties noted below. May also assist / perform the following depending upon background and training; evoked potential (EP), polysomnograph (PSG), and nerve conduction velocity studies (NCV) using appropriate instrumentation and performs the following duties.
Essential Functions and Duties :
- Measures and accurately applies electrodes according to the 10 / 20 International System in a timely manner, according to laboratory standards.
- Appropriately applies EKG, EMG, and EOG monitoring electrodes.
- Compiles a patient history gathering appropriate information from patient's record, and family members to include any sleep disturbance.
- Interviews patient to assess current medications, recent caffeine or alcohol ingestion, and current sleep patterns.
- Performs and records mechanical calibrations according to lab policy.
- Performs and records physiological calibrations according to lab policy.
- Performs polysomnogram according to standards of the laboratory.
- Administers Oxygen following laboratory policy.
