What are the responsibilities and job description for the TELEMETRY TECH position at Sinai Health System?
Provides continuous monitoring, observation, interpretation, documentation and communication of EKG rhythms to appropriate patient caregivers. Works under general supervision.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Provides continuous monitoring of EKG rhythms
- Receives reports from telemetry technician and initiates telemetry record 1 2 3 4 5 on a six (6) hour schedule. Obtains EKG rhythm strips at the beginning of of the six (6) hour period or upon detection of rhythm changes. Measures and documents the PR, QT and QRS internal on EKG strip and mounts strips as appropriate.
- Provides telemetry monitor and electrodes upon admission of patient. Enters 1 2 3 4 5 patient name into central monitor and verifies alarm parameters. Records patient data in log book and on telemetry record sheet.
- Disengages patient from central monitor and records discharge date on 1 2 3 4 5 telemetry record sheets. Cleans telemetry monitor and places in appropriate storage area.
- Identifies proper lead placement for EKG monitoring. Replaces or removes electrodes on patients as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- None.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use machines, tools, equipment and work aids as necessary to complete job duties.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current CPR certification.
- Completion of EKG course preferred.
- Must pass hospital EKG proficiency exam.
