What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Reporter / MMJ position at Sinclair Broadcast Group?
WLUK Green Bay has a rare opening in our Sports department. We believe Sports is News. We cover the hard news of Sports content from Pro-Football and NCAA D1, to High School Varsity contests. We are also committed to community sports. The outdoors - hunting and fishing is our community's #1 past-time. This is not a “features onlyâ€� job - we dig deeper into the “whyâ€� of the story. While this is primarily a reporter position, there will be opportunities to anchor in our many sportscasts and sports specials. This position also requires engaging live shot skills and a person who thrives on breaking sports stories.
No day will look the same as a Reporter, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Create, shoot, write and edit meaningful sports stories that can be used across multiple platforms
- Provide content on-air and online as directed from the news management team
- Engage with local community members and sports representatives
- Reviewing material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
- Work closely with all members of the news team, which would include Producers, Editors, Anchors, News Directors etc..

- Proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems
- Excel in storytelling across multiple platforms
- Ability to produce on-air sports segments
- Strong writing and copy-editing skills are a must
- 2 years of experience as a sports reporter preferred Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
