The Training Academy, part of the Department of Criminal Justice at Sinclair Community College, offers both pre-service and in-service training to support the needs of area law enforcement and corrections agencies. Peace Officer Basic and Corrections training offered through the Criminal Justice Training Academy follows the curriculum and standards of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission, and all commanders and instructors are certified by OPOTA.
The Criminal Justice Training Academy Coordinator provides leadership for the college’s training to meet the needs for law enforcement, corrections and private security training in the Miami Valley region. The salary for this position is negotiable.
The salary for this position begins at $57,344.00 and is determined commensurate with education and experience.

Principal Accountabilities
- Provide leadership for the development of Academy training to meet area needs
- Select and supervise contract employees who provide training
- Manage the Training Academy budget, ensuring high-quality and affordable training for area agencies, and oversee training facilities
- Have or be able to obtain certifications to become an OPOTA commander and instructor for basic law enforcement training
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of an associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field required; bachelor’s, master’s degree and/or graduate of National Academy preferred
- Ability to work effectively with area agencies to determine and develop training activities that are responsive to the needs of agencies required
- Successful prior experience as a college level academic and/or OPOTA certified instructor/trainer in the field of criminal justice required
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel and manage operations, including budget, facilities and equipment required
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills required
