Spotlight on Maryland- Digital/Social Producer

Sinclair’s Spotlight on Maryland has an opening for a creative Digital/Social Producer. If you want to make a difference, then this job is for you! Spotlight on Maryland produces exclusive, innovative, hard hitting and high-impact stories for digital, social, print and television. This investigative team will have up to 20 investigative journalists, significantly expanding coverage of critical issues that impact the citizens of Maryland. The goal is to offer audiences on multiple platforms investigative and accountability stories that they cannot find anywhere else.

The candidate should have experience writing, video editing and producing news content for the web and social media. We want someone with a competitive spirit and a “can do” attitude. Candidate must have excellent writing skills and news judgment. The ideal candidate must possess strong digital analytics skills to help guide story placement on respective digital platforms. The Digital Producer must identify and post engaging, timely, and relevant content; monitor competitive social practices, and work in line with the Spotlight on Maryland’s overall content strategy.

Essential Duties and Requirements include the following:

• Strong news judgment and the ability to write fast, accurate, and mistake-free copy
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to execute news strategies and goals for daily content creation
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities are a must
• The position is located on-site in Hunt Valley, MD*
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Must have some previous digital/social news producing experience at a commercial TV station, or media outlet, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered
• Journalism, or related, degree is preferred
• Knowledge of or a willingness to learn about social media content creation for multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
• A self-starter with a drive to chase down stories, including reaching out to appropriate authorities or other sources.
• Someone with a collaborative spirit who works well with a team to achieve department goals.
• Seeks out story ideas, including follow-ups to previous reports or previews of upcoming events.
• Excellent communicator and team player who shares important information with co-workers in a clear and timely manner.
• Monitor news emails for new releases, relevant information and updates to stories and information about upcoming events and share or file that information as needed.
  
  

The base salary compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
