Sinclair’s Spotlight on Maryland has an opening for an Executive Producer/Manager Editor to lead an investigative team dedicated to impactful and accountability reporting across the state. This is a collaborative effort with WBFF FOX45, WJLA in Washington D.C. and The Baltimore Sun. The Spotlight on Maryland investigative team will have up to 20 investigative journalists, significantly expanding coverage of critical issues that impact the citizens of Maryland and providing unmatched, comprehensive and powerful investigative reporting that you won’t find anywhere else. The goal is to offer audiences on multiple platforms investigative and accountability stories that they cannot find anywhere else.
We are seeking a dynamic personality to lead our Spotlight on Maryland investigative team. Candidates should demonstrate experience with story development and editorial vetting.
The position requires strong skills in journalism and leadership. Essential skills include the ability to build a team, share a vision, and execute a strategy.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $150,000 to $160,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.

Essential Duties and Requirements include the following:
- Effectively execute our strategy for daily coverage as well as long-term coverage goals
- Develop strategies for delivering unique, hard-hitting, accountability storytelling targeted for every platform
- Be available to lead coverage of major investigations and breakthrough stories
- Work collaboratively with corporate news leaders, reporters, photojournalists and editors to enhance value driven investigative reporting
- Organize and execute digital and social strategies with Spotlight on Maryland’s talent
- Drive new content initiatives and, working with news management, supervise overall content strategy
- Ensure accuracy of investigative reports
- Be knowledgeable of state-wide current events
- Research, report and write original stories
- Provide coaching to on-air staff about best practices and content strategies
- The position is located on-site in Hunt Valley, MD*
- Other duties as assigned
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing a news team at a commercial news operation preferred.
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to execute news strategies and daily goals
- Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities
- Journalism, or related, degree preferred
- Must have Proficiency with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems such as iNews
- This is an in-office role, 5 days a week at our Sinclair Headquarters located at 10706 Beaver Dam Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030.
