Senior Indirect Buyer
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Sr. Indirect Buyer is responsible for sourcing and qualifying vendors, negotiating pricing, and placing purchase orders for materials, supplies, equipment and outside processing to fulfill demand. The goal is to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient material flow to support our operations in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
This is an onsite role at our at our facilities in Torrance and Carson, California.
Essential Functions
- Processes purchase requests (PR) raised for Indirect goods and / or services and converting them into Purchase orders (PO) on a daily basis.
- Rolls out requests for quotes (RFQs) to suppliers, evaluating incoming supplier offers and finalizes with the best offer for PO issuance.
- Evaluates price, reliability, quality, technical support and availability of goods and services.
- Conducts supplier negotiations with the local supplier base for achieving the best price, lead time, and payment terms.
- Addresses invoice discrepancies, price mismatches between PO and invoice.
- Accountable for on-time delivery of purchased material at (or below) planned costs.
- Negotiates pricing with vendors to reduce total cost.
- Manages suppliers for Cost, Quality, and Delivery
- Identifies constraints that may impact production schedules.
- Reviews purchase orders and shipping documents coordinating with receiving and accounting to ensure accuracy of all details and purchase order closure
- Works in a cross-functional team environment as a strong team player and demonstrate ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals.
- Provides assistance and support to UK subsidiary indirect department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or other relevant fields
- Four (4) plus years of experience as Buyer, Purchasing Agent, Purchasing Specialist, GSM or equivalent
- Proven ability to onboard and contract pricing agreements with suppliers
- Knowledge of procurement strategies, should cost models and technology roadmaps
- P2P knowledge is a plus
- Proficient in MRP systems
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications:
- Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
- Prior experience in rapid growth environment

- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, math, and statistics
- Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others

Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Must be able to drive and travel for business, including occasional travel by commercial airplane

- Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is between $69,680 to $87,100 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
