What you'll be doing in this role...
Under the direction of the Farm Manager, and in conjunction with the SingleThread Team, the Farmer position works to achieve the company’s objectives in the production of fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers honey, and eggs, and maintaining our farm property.
- Fieldwork: planting, weeding, mulching, irrigation, spraying, pest/disease management, seed collecting
- Greenhouse work: sowing, thinning, potting up, propagation
- Harvesting & post- harvest handling: washing, sorting, packing
- Ensure Kaizen mentality in quality of farm produce and self
- Consistent, thorough, and timely communication with peers and management
In an ideal world, you have:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English at a basic level
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
- Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner as outlined by the Farm leadership team
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
- Flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays and extended hours as business needs arise
ENVIRONMENTAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, climb stairs and steps, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
