Ophthalmic Technicians and Scribes needed for Eyecare Office
(We prefer experience but will train motivated applicants)
Ophthalmic Technician - The core duties include the following:
- Perform pretesting and patient history, including vision testing, glaucoma screening, Optos.
- Refraction
- Perform vision examination; administer eye drops; obtain eye pressure using Tonopen, Applanation, NCT.
- Assist Doctor by scribing during patient exams.
- OCT, Optos, corneal pachymetry, dilation, etc.
- Perform preliminary examinations on patients: triage; ocular injuries, assist in cataract evaluations.
- Follow Dr Orders for medications refill or new prescriptions/return calls to patients regarding any eye-relate questions or drug-related questions.
Scribe – Core duties:
- Refracting to determine eyeglass prescription.
- Helping to improve physician productivity during patient consultations.
- Taking notes during consultations with patients using our EHR system.
- Entering the information from the consultation into the patient electronic medical records (EHR)
- Communicating with other doctor's offices or hospitals to obtain information or notes about the patient.
- Producing letters (using templates) or other documents that doctor needs to communicate with referring doctors or to facilitate the referral of patients for specialized care.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology and medical terminology
- Experience in a medical office setting
- Understanding of anatomy and physiology
- Proficient in patient care and intake procedures
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques
- Experience with EMR systems, including Epic
- Ability to take vital signs and manage medical records
- Retail sales experience and knowledge of retail math
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
