JOB DESCRIPTION: MAINTENANCE OPERATOR

SUMMARY:

Perform work involving the skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of our buildings in repair. Duties may involve welding, machining carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing aligning, and balancing new equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions
  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoist, cranes, hand tools or power tools
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery
  • Order parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs, internet, or suppliers
  • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company Policies along with Safety and Environmental regulations
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Machine tool rebuilding
  • Three phase wiring
  • Basic building maintenance along with working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to complete projects in an efficient time
  • Knowledge of manual machining, hydraulic circuits, welding, and fabrication
  • Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction, and decimal)
  • Ability to take direction from supervisor to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and directly to co-workers and supervisory personnel both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to adapt to change (positive and negative)
  • Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges
  • Demonstrates a good attitude toward work and arrives on time for start of shift
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to this position and to the safety regulations

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 or more years’ experience in the Maintenance field
  • 2 years technical degree in preferred but not required

  • Must be able to occasionally lift to 50lbs
  • Able to climb ladders and operate scissor lifts to work at different heights.
  • Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes
  • Constantly stand and walk throughout the workday
  • Constant exposure to moderate noise
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel material
  • Frequent repetitive motions
  • Constantly wear eye protection (Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required)
