What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campus Math Interventionist position at Sinton?
Primary Purpose:
Works with district and campus administrators, classroom teachers, and campus support staff to plan and implement high-quality research-based math instruction. Provides interventions for at-risk students who need additional academic support, as evident in student performance data. Evaluates students to determine math strengths and weaknesses. Plans and implements programming for family engagement. Assists teachers in identifying and applying various research-based instructional strategies in the classroom, provides leadership in Math across the school community, and possesses a deep understanding of math instruction.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university (preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid subject matter certificate
GT Certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Expert knowledge of classroom management, effective Math instructional strategies, and practices
Ability to demonstrate and develop effective practices for At Risk learners
Ability to support program effectiveness and program compliance
Ability to analyze and interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop relationships and maintain consistent contact with students, parents, and colleagues
Experience:
Minimum 3 years teaching experience (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Intervention
- Teach targeted academic interventions to students daily as appropriate, using research-based strategies and
- Internalize and prepare for lessons that are designed to meet the specific instructional needs of At- Risk students being served. Utilize district data tools to assist with making these data-driven instructional decisions based on progress monitoring and other assessment
- Demonstrate flexibility and patience in working with At-Risk students who may need a variety of instructional approaches or adjustments before obtaining mastery of expected learning objectives.
- Helps teachers to analyze classroom formative assessment student data and plan for effective interventions.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers in implementing an effective instructional program for At-Risk
- Assists in the evaluation of ongoing practices and makes recommendations for
- Works with special cases whose difficulty or complexity requires a high degree of professional skill and
- Helps teachers to diagnose student strengths and weaknesses and to match these skills with appropriate techniques, materials, and/or
- Helps teachers to implement state and district
- Attends appropriate professional meetings and workshops to maintain proficiency and to acquire new ideas for instructional improvement. Informs administration of the effects of current and impending legislation.
Coaching
- Demonstrate effective coaching and guidance skills and inspire both the respect and the trust of principals, teachers, and other colleagues.
- Plan with teachers/grade levels on matters relating to instructional methods and materials and recommend use of varied approved instructional materials.
- Performs classroom visitations and demonstration lessons to model strategies and monitors curriculum implementation through effective coaching methods.
- Confers with district and campus administration on curriculum, instructional focus, and staff development plans.

- Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

Communications and Community Support
- Routinely participate in meetings with other campus intervention teachers and district curriculum coordinators to align intervention services, data protocols, instructional approaches, and campus/district expectations. This meeting cycle will be developed collaboratively by the campus principals, district curriculum department leaders, and campus interventionists.
- Keeps the campus informed as to the purposes and progress of district and state instructional program(s) and requirements.
- Participate in campus functions such as faculty meetings, family nights, parent conferences, committee meetings, before/after school duty assignments, campus celebrations, and other routine expectations required of all
- Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department
