Position Overview
This position is responsible for the designing and building of new equipment or the enhancement of equipment to run new and existing products.
Essential Job Functions
· Oversee and manage assigned projects from concept through completion.
· Deliver projects on time and under budget.
· Execute and implement improvements and/or modifications in operations and equipment.
· Troubleshoot existing processes.
· Monitors multiple projects while assuring compliance with approved methods and quality standards.
· Design and detail machine components to be built in house.
· Specify and purchase components from suppliers needed to complete the project.
· Create and or improve instruction manuals needed for training of operators and supervisors on new or updated equipment.
· Responsible for training operators and supervisors the safe operation of equipment designed.
· Responsible for training maintenance and machine integrators on operation and maintenance of equipment.
· Create or aid in the creation of PLC programs for equipment by either writing a program or supplying operation sequence.
· Work closely with other specialists including those responsible for quality control of raw material, plant maintenance, plant safety and colleagues on product specifications and equipment requirements.
· Ensure all aspects of an operation or process meet all specified safety and quality regulations.
· Follow the guidelines as prescribed in the Equipment Design Guidebook.
· Correctly and efficiently maintain files and revisions of all documents both hard copy and soft.
· Oversee and document design meetings.
· Write or assist in the writing of a comprehensive operator/maintenance manual.
· Construct prototypes when needed, in order to prove a design or aid in the machining or assembly of the equipment.
· Reverse engineer worn components/assemblies on old pieces of equipment.
Participate in other engineering projects by collaborating with team members on design alternatives, processes, or concepts

· There are many duties that need performed that are part of everyday operation. All team members are required to perform everyday tasks not associated with their job scope.
Share knowledge and help develop the skills of fellow team members
· Proficient in of Inventor and MS Office applications
· Possess a working knowledge of PLC programming.
· Strong fundamental knowledge of mechanical design and its application in automation designs including specification on motors, gears, and mechanical systems, pneumatic, robotic and vacuum systems.
· Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently or in a team environment.
· General knowledge of the capabilities of machine shop equipment required to make parts.
· Flexibility in terms of dealing with changing priorities and dealing with multiple projects simultaneously.
· Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills in order to deal with vendors, internal customers, and management from a variety of skill levels as well as different authority levels.
Education and Experience
· A.S. or equivalent technical school training or related and demonstrated job experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine design field.
· Experience with project management and scheduling for projects within a manufacturing environment.

Salary : $68,500 - $92,900
