What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance/Facilities Manager position at Sioux Falls YMCA?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Facility Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting across all YMCA facilities and Leif Ericson Camp.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.
- Ensure all facilities are safe, clean, and fully operational for members, staff, and visitors.
Vehicle Maintenance and Licensing:
- Ensure all YMCA vehicles are properly licensed and meet all regulatory requirements.
- Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all YMCA vehicles, including buses, vans, and other transportation equipment.
- Schedule and oversee external repairs when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of all vehicle maintenance and licensing activities.
Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all maintenance activities comply with YMCA policies, local regulations, and safety standards.
- Assist with safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in safety training and drills.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Manage the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Order necessary parts and materials while staying within budget constraints.
- Maintain organized and clean workspaces, including storage areas.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other YMCA staff members to ensure maintenance tasks are completed with minimal disruption to programs and services.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members regarding maintenance schedules, vehicle availability, and any issues that arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in maintenance-related fields preferred.
- Strong skills in general maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance, including knowledge of automotive systems, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Ability to clear a background check
