Part-Time Administrative Assistant
About us: Siouxland Foster Closet is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Motivated by Christian faith, our mission is to show the love of Christ to children placed outside their biological home by the foster care system through clothing, necessities, and just-for-fun items provided at no cost. We are seeking a self-motivated and organized part-time Administrative Assistant to manage many aspects of the operations of the Siouxland Foster Closet.
Overview: The new position of Administrative Assistant will entail a variety of duties, from reception and administrative, donation and inventory management, to working with caseworkers, families and children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing communications via phone calls, emails, Facebook, as well as scheduling appointments for shoppers.
- Managing incoming donations, sorting and stocking clothing with regular volunteers.
- Managing inventory, keeping current needs updated.
- Keeping the shopping area organized, clean, well-maintained.
- Taking some appointments and working directly with families, children, caseworkers to help them find the clothing and necessities they need.
- Assisting fundraising committee with details of fundraising events.
Other duties may be assigned and will depend upon the strengths, skills, and past professional experience of the candidate. Duties could extend to community relations, marketing, social media, fundraising, and event planning.
Hours will be 9:30am-2:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, with an additional 5 to 10 hours, somewhat flexible, and determined upon hiring. Candidate must occasionally be available and willing to work afternoons, or evenings. For the right candidate, summers (mid-May through mid-August) may be more flexible in terms of hours required to work.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient with email, Microsoft Office and social media
- Must be physically able to stand or sit for a period of time, lift and carry moderately heavy items and perform cleaning tasks
- Alignment with the mission and values of Siouxland Foster Closet
- Must be able to pass a background check and legally work in the United States
While not required, preference will be given to candidates with experience/college education in one or more of the following areas: marketing, administration, social work, retail, fundraising, non-profit management, event planning. Additionally, candidates with any lived experience with the foster care system are encouraged to to apply.
