The Director of Signage is responsible for overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and management of all signage-related initiatives across the organization. This role involves working closely with design, marketing, and operational teams to ensure that signage is aligned with the brand's identity, enhances customer experiences, and meets regulatory or functional requirements. The Director of Signage will lead a team of professionals, manage external vendors, and oversee all aspects of signage creation from concept through to installation and maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive signage strategy that supports brand goals and ensures consistency across all locations and platforms.
- Collaborate with senior management to align signage initiatives with broader business objectives, marketing campaigns, and customer experience strategies.
Team Leadership:
- Manage a team of designers, project managers, and coordinators responsible for signage projects.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to direct reports, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Ensure proper staffing levels and skillsets for various signage projects, including design, technical production, and installation.
Signage Design & Branding:
- Lead the creation of new signage designs and updates to existing signage, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and visual standards.
- Ensure all signage communicates clear, consistent messages that enhance the customer journey and align with the brand's voice and aesthetic.
- Work with external design agencies and vendors when necessary to execute projects on time and within budget.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
- Select and manage relationships with external signage suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors.
- Oversee the procurement process for materials and services related to signage production and installation.
- Maintain strong communication with key stakeholders, including marketing, facilities management, and construction teams, to ensure smooth project execution.
Project Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end project management of signage installations, from concept to final execution, ensuring deadlines and budget parameters are met.
- Track and report on project progress, resolving any issues that may arise during the development or installation phases.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including accessibility standards and safety guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in signage, design, or brand management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or director-level role.
Skills:
- Expertise in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Flexi) and signage production processes.
- Strong understanding of brand guidelines and how they apply to physical environments.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards, including ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance, local codes, and environmental factors affecting signage.
