Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, terminating, and maintaining fiber optic systems in accordance with industry standards. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various environments.
Responsibilities:
- Install and mount racks, patch panels, fiber optic hardware, and grounding systems.
- Terminate and test fiber optic cables, including LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors for both multimode and single-mode fiber.
- Perform continuity testing, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and calculate end-to-end loss budgets per TIA/EIA standards.
- Conduct OTDR, Fluke, and EFXO testing, and identify/correct network-wide problems.
- Perform mechanical and fusion splicing for various fiber cables, including OSP and direct-buried splices.
- Complete documentation accurately, including timesheets, work orders, and material transfers.
- Provide onsite support after business hours as part of an on-call schedule and travel to job sites as needed.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years of fiber optic experience preferred.
- Proficiency in terminating all connector types and troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems.
- Industry certifications (Corning, FOA, BICSI) preferred.
- Ability to work at heights, lift up to 75 lbs, and work in confined spaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency with trade tools.
Salary : $21 - $25
