Role Summary/Purpose: We are seeking a skilled Data Centre Operation Technician to support our Network and Server Infrastructure. This role involves working with CISCO devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, APs, and WAN optimization devices, as well as CISCO UCS and Nutanix servers. The technician will collaborate with the Network Engineering and Storage Engineering teams to perform visual validations, physical troubleshooting, and other necessary actions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Rack and cable devices, receive consignments, open boxes, stage devices, and configure management access.
· Power cycle devices and run diagnostic commands as required by the Network Engineering and Storage Engineering teams.
· Coordinate whole unit replacements and support inserting/removing media.
· Perform remote walk-throughs for replacing defective components and configuring remote access.
· Coordinate activity dates and timings, including arrival and departure times for onsite vendors.
· Rack and stack new hardware, maintain inventory, and follow SOPs.
· Maintain physical layout documentation (site drawings, rack elevation, etc.), rack/cable labeling, and asset tagging.
· Manage inventory, spares, and consumables, including processing items for e-waste.
· Prepare units for shipment and ship units to appropriate sites.
· Receive defective units from remote sites for disposition.
· Ensure compliance and protect service, document and control SOPs for IT processes.
· Collaborate with other teams across Linux, Windows, and DB teams.
Essential Requirements:
· Ability to work in a data centre with varying temperatures and noise levels.
· Wear appropriate clothing as suggested by the DCIM team.
· Lift and carry equipment up to 20 kg (50 pounds).
· Work in a shift pattern of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Wednesday to Sunday, as applicable based on the shift rota.
· Participate in an on-call rota covering 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Wednesday to Sunday, and all-day Monday and Tuesday based on the agreed rota.
· L1/L2 level networking knowledge and experience working in a data centre environment.
· Current knowledge of data centre best practices.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certifications such as CompTIA A , CompTIA Network , CCNA.
· Experience working with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
· Technical understanding of DC architecture, infrastructure, and service management.
· Experience with packet analysis.
· Ability to quickly analyse, diagnose, and resolve technical operational incidents.
· Customer-first delivery mindset, with a focus on maintaining service uptime and performance.
