Project Overview:
We are seeking to hire a qualified Project Manager to oversee the successful upgrade and implementation of Skyward SMS 2.0 to Qmlativ. The current estimated migration is anticipated to be June 2026. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing software upgrades, particularly for Skyward Qmlativ, and will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
Additional responsibilities may include supporting the Technology Department in managing the district reconfiguration, which will divide into three independent districts by July 1, 2027. This role could involve coordinating the separation of key core solutions to ensure smooth transitions for all future districts.
Scope of Work:
The contracted Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing primarily the Skyward Qmlativ upgrade, ensuring the project stays on schedule, within budget, and meets all stakeholder expectations. Similar duties would be required for the project management of the district reconfiguration efforts. Specific duties include
Project Planning and Execution:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a detailed project plan outlining timelines, milestones, resources, and deliverables.
- Oversee the successful execution of the Skyward Qmlativ upgrade, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Ensure all phases of the project are completed according to the defined timeline.
Stakeholder and Communication Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders involved in the project.
- Maintain regular communication with internal teams, external vendors, and any third-party partners to ensure project progress is tracked and potential issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress, milestones, and risks.
Risk Management:
- Proactively identify, track, and manage potential risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that any challenges are communicated to stakeholders effectively.
Quality Assurance and Testing:
- Coordinate testing of the Skyward Qmlativ system after upgrades, ensuring the software operates smoothly and meets the organization’s requirements.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure deliverables meet organizational standards.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Monitor and manage the project’s budget, ensuring the project stays within financial constraints.
- Track expenses and provide regular financial reports to leadership.

Training and Post-Implementation Support:
- Coordinate training for end-users on the upgraded Skyward Qmlativ system.

Documentation and Reporting:

Mandatory Requirements
- School District Technology Experience: The successful candidate will have project management experience in a school district educational technology environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Skyward Qmlativ Upgrade Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working on or managing Skyward Qmlativ upgrades.
Project Management Experience: At least 5 years of proven experience managing complex software upgrade projects.
Project Management Certifications: PMP, Agile, or other relevant certifications preferred.
Technical Understanding: Strong understanding of school district technology infrastructure, including integration with third-party systems and software tools.
