Siren Cannabis Assistant Cultivation Technician
Position: Assistant Cannabis Cultivation Technician
Reports to: Cultivation Manager/Trim Lead/Office Manager
Status: Part time (9-10 days/month)
Pay: $16/hour
Sick Pay: 1 hour for every 30 hours works, up to 40 hours in a calendar year
Siren is a family-owned, OLCC-licensed cannabis production facility. We are committed to providing quality craft cannabis to the Oregon recreational market. Owners Matt and Meghan Walstatter have been working as cannabis activists and entrepreneurs for more than two decades. As leaders in the Oregon cannabis industry, their advocacy is broad and far-reaching, with an emphasis on authentic and inclusive business practices, fair and reasonable legalization laws, and conscientious cultivation and use.
As a Siren Part-Time Cultivation Technician, your primary responsibilities are to help with defoliation, bucking and harvest. This will be accomplished by following the directions of the cultivation manager and the trim lead. Communication skills, organization, attention to safety and detail, and exceptional time management skills are critical to the success of the organization. You will be expected to work 9 or 10 days a month that will be scheduled far in advance. There is a possibility for extra days if the projects run long or we need help trimming but they won’t be required if you have other commitments. You must be open to constructive guidance to be able to learn and perform to Siren’s quality standards.
The dates you will be needed: Harvest is always on a Tuesday (approx. once a month) and defoliation and bucking take place mainly Monday-Thursday, with an occasional Friday as well. This means you would work 2 back-to-back weeks for bucking and defol with harvest taking place 1 or 2 weeks later, depending on which rooms are being harvested. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must be 21 years or older
· Valid Marijuana Workers Permit
· Valid Driver’s License
· At least 1 year of experience trimming cannabis and/or
· At least 1 year of experience in cannabis cultivation, or at least 2 years of experience in other horticultural settings and/or other cannabis settings.
· Ability to stand, climb, squat, bend, twist, and stand for extended periods of time
· Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 lbs
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
· Team oriented
· Must have reliable transportation and good attendance
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Defoliating 4-5 days a month with the rest of the crew
· Harvesting one day per month. This entails cutting plants into 18” lengths and placing them on hangers for drying as well as general post-harvest cleaning
· Bucking 4 days a month. This entails removing the water leaves and cutting all the buds off the stem so they are ready to trim.
