Job Overview
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of medical instruments and equipment used in healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
- Performs decontamination, sterilzation and processing of equipment and supplies used during invasive and non-invasive procedures.
- May be assigned to different areas within the department with a variety of duties which require knowledge of sterile processing methods and strict adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Meet the needs of hospital departments sterile supply and instrument needs by performing a variety of service related activities, by maintaining basic sterile techniques and procedures
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment following established protocols
- Assemble instrument trays and surgical kits accurately
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and perform necessary repairs or replacements
- Maintain accurate records of processed items and equipment inventory
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent the spread of pathogens
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for patient care
Experience
- 2 years of sterile processing experience - Required
- Current certification as Sterile Processing Technician - Required
- High school diploma or equivalency - Required
- Able to speak and write English Fluently
- Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
- Registration by the International Association of Central Service & Materials Management - Required
- Monday-Friday, with some Saturday coverage. The Monday-Friday would adjust if a Saturday shift were needed.
