Sirius Staffing is seeking an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to join a successful Electrical/Instrumentation team with an engineering firm in Theodore, AL. The Electrical Engineer will design the preparation of electrical, instrumentation, and controls for various clients. This is a contract to direct or possibly a direct hire opportunity.
$120-$180k yearly
Typical schedule: day shift, Mon – Fri (6-4, 7-5, 8-6 Friday half day)
Essential Functions:
Assist in developing +/- 30% and +/-10% scopes for Process Safety related projects, including PHA action items and LOPA Gap closures.
Create drawing packages with redlines to hand over to the estimating group.
Responsible for assisting in designing, developing, and implementing technical items.
Ability to lead or assist electrical engineers on projects/proposals assigned, including attendance at all required project meetings, project reporting, and oversight/direction of support staff assigned to the project.
Ability to learn and apply client standards to meet field installation requirements and bring any discrepancies to the discipline manager and project team to make decisions.
Manage workload (non-conformities/concessions and late changes) to support production and to update the master data for the documentation package.
Record and track the progress according to deadlines /deliverables.
Establish/verify the technical content of non-conformities; validate in documentation.
Ability to produce detailed calculations, compose technical reports, and design sketches to assist drafters.
A working knowledge of computer software, including RISA products or other structural analysis software, AutoCAD or other drafting software, Navisworks, and Microsoft Products.
Supporting other disciplines and project management on projects, including the ability to perform on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to develop construction specifications and scope of work documents.Ability to review fabrication drawings and submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
Communicate clearly and effectively with the discipline manager, engineering colleagues, project managers, and clients daily through email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering required
Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of relevant professional work experience required.
EIT or PE certification preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license and suitable driving record to meet company driver requirements.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
Project design lead and managing or management assistance of a project team, budget, scope, and schedule.
Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
AUTOCAD or other CAD software Training
MS Office 365 skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
Full understanding of the quality system; knowledge of quality processes
Ability to read, understand, and interpret prints/drawings and other technical documents that describe the system and processes and understand policies, procedures, and processes.
Comprehension of potentially complex written materials, such as technical instructions, contracts, or engineering specifications
Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Ability to Travel:
Site visits to client facilities may be required with little or no notice to perform field work necessary to gather field data and provide construction support.
Travel may be required between office locations (AL, MS, and LA)
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Normal business office environment with moderate noise.
The position typically performs tasks in the office but may require site visits to customer facilities
Occasionally, may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at a construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
Depending on the task, safety glasses and other safety equipment are required for site visits, and the company will provide all personnel with standard safety equipment.

Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to reach overhead, stand, walk, reach, climb (ladders or stairs), bend, stoop, and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and operating standard office equipment and computers.
Lifting to 25 pounds may be required.
