The role of an electronic engineer consists of testing gadgets inside electric devices. Testing is based on principles of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. This includes risk assessments, electrical engineering codes compliance, and ongoing safety testing.

The electrical engineer job role includes the below duties:

  • By conducting research programs and applying knowledge of electricity and materials, evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications.
  • By designing test methods and testing properties, confirm the capabilities of the system and its components.
  • Studying and testing manufacturing, assembly, and assembly method materials and methods to develop electrical products.
  • Designs and modifies equipment to construct and assemble electrical components; seeks comments from operators to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Conducts electrical testing on finished products and testing the system capabilities.
  • Answers questions and requests regarding engineering.
  • Compliance with federal and state laws and regulations helps maintain the reputation of the company and its products.
  • Ensure equipment is functional by following established procedures and following manufacturer guidelines; request repair services.
  • Enters product data using computer programs; maintains product database.
  • Provides training and guidance to technicians to complete projects.
  • Establishes and utilizes personal networks as well as participating in professional societies to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  • Contributes to team success by achieving related results when required.
  • The design, implementation, maintenance, or improvement of an electrical instrument, components, facilities, systems, or equipment products for use in commerce, industry, or household.
  • Utilizing computer-aided design or engineering software and equipment to perform a variety of engineering tasks.
  • Establishing standards for electrical system installation and operations through the preparation of technical drawings or maps.
  • Construction, manufacturing, installation, or performance standards are established by performing detailed calculations.
  • Specifying the purchase of electrical equipment and materials.
  • Training or supervising members of the project team.
  • For budget preparation, estimating materials, labour, and construction costs.
  • Inspecting and maintaining electrical equipment.
