General Job Description
Represent Siskin Steel & Supply Company in the selling of Steel and related products to assigned customers/territories to perform or supervise work involved in promoting and maintaining sales by originating and developing leads and performing sales on-site, face to face and in person. The territory is South Carolina, North Carolina and other designated areas North. This Sales Rep will reside in the area of SC,and NC.
JOB ACTIVITIES:
Essential Functions
- To meet or exceed Sales and Gross Profit objectives.
- Foster a positive business relationship by personally building goodwill and developing account rapport; visit accounts daily
- Develop new accounts and maintain relationships with established accounts.
- Coordinate Inside/Outside effort with Key Accounts.
- Emphasize the selling for First Stage Processed Steel and cultivate New Processing Accounts wherever possible.
- Maintain a system for time and territory management, i.e.
- Account analysis, including recommending price adjustments, setting call frequencies, etc.
- Allocating and maintaining maximum time productivity.
- Account strategy for 80/20 (Top Percentage) accounts. Develop customer profiles on all accounts through CRM software including account visit summaries.
- Acquires and regularly updates general knowledge of the metals industry, including potential customers and competitors, as well as business trends through trade association events and industry publications.
- May be required to work as Inside Sales Representative for short period of time.
- Interface with Shipping and Credit and other functional groups where basis.
- Participate in “home” study programs to continually improve and increase product knowledge.
Required Skills and Qualifications
0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required. High School diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred. Must possess a Valid Driver's License and be able to meet company insurability standards. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services required. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service required. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective processing and distribution of material required. Understanding of company product(s) and their uses required. Knowledge of the metals industry required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public required. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly a strong virtual presence and listening skills required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required. Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers and customers required. Strong computer proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft applications required.
