We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of material handling equipment, including hoists and overhead cranes, at our customer facilities throughout the Tri-State area. This role requires a technician with a strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Field Maintenance Technician will ensure the reliable and safe operation of critical equipment, providing top-notch service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field Inspections & Preventive Maintenance: Conduct on-site inspections and preventive maintenance of hoists, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment at customer locations in the Tri-State area.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, providing prompt and efficient repairs on-site to minimize downtime and restore equipment functionality.
- Electrical Expertise: Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including diagnostics of wiring, circuits, motors, and control panels associated with overhead cranes, hoists and other material handling equipment.
- Mechanical Repairs & Replacements: Perform mechanical repairs and replace components such as gears, motors, brakes, and structural parts of overhead cranes, hoists and other material handling equipment.
- Customer Interaction & Communication: Provide exceptional customer service by clearly communicating with customers regarding service needs, explaining inspection findings and repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations, adhering to both company and OSHA safety protocols.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate service records, documenting all inspections, repairs, parts used, and any other relevant service information.
- Emergency Service Response: Be available to respond to emergency service calls as needed, prioritizing critical issues and ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
- Collaboration & Support: Work closely with internal teams and the customer support department to provide a seamless service experience, reporting issues and offering input for process improvements.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential issues with equipment and systems and recommend or implement solutions to avoid unplanned downtime.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on material handling equipment (hoists, overhead cranes, etc.).
- Mechanical Expertise: Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems maintenance and repair.
- Electrical Knowledge: Proficient in electrical troubleshooting, including the ability to diagnose and repair motors, circuits, wiring, and control systems.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach, ensuring positive interactions with clients.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently and efficiently, ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
- Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve optimal results.
- Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety standards and procedures, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, ensuring that inspections and repairs are conducted thoroughly and accurately.
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, as travel to customer sites in the Tri-State area is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications:
- Crane maintenance certification or relevant industry certifications preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Training:
- Formal training in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or mechanical systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working at heights at times
- Ability to travel regularly within the Tri-State area.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
