What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Staff Accountant position at Sisters of Charity Health System?
Regina Health Center, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System is recruiting for a full-time Senior Staff Accountant. This position reports directly to the Health System Controller & Regina Health Center Executive Director and is responsible for accounting and financial functions including posting and processing of transactions and reporting of financial operations of Regina Health Center. The Senior Staff Accountant also processes payroll for the facility. The person in this position will assist and support the Business Office in the day-to-day business office functions of the facility in accordance with current billing and reimbursement rules and regulations relating to long-term care. All services provided by the Senior Staff Accountant must be done in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Regina Health Center and current federal, state, and local standards governing long-term care and assisted living facilities. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and posts monthly journal entries and maintains monthly account reconciliations.
- Ensures that general ledger account and fund coding is correct on all receipts and expenditures.
- Works with Health System Controller to prepare monthly and year-end closing and financial statements.
- Performs bank reconciliations monthly for all bank accounts prior to the preparation of monthly financial statements. Monitors cash balance weekly.
- Performs monthly reconciliation with Fund Development staff to reconcile Raiser’s Edger information with accounts and conduct year-end reconciliation.
- Maintains and updates the Fund Development endowment and restricted accounts.
- Oversees reconciliation of Resident Funds accounts monthly and at years end.
- Processes biweekly payroll.
- Maintains accounting records of grants and ensures compliance with all tax and other regulations
- Assists the Controller with preparing schedules, data collection, and documentation needed to complete the 990 tax return.
- Assists the Controller and Executive Director with preparation of annual budget.
- Assists with preparing schedules for annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with all financial policies and procedures.
- Assists with other financial related duties as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree with business major in accounting.
- 2 years of accounting and financial experience and related financial software.
- Ability to function as part of a team and the ability to work independently.
- Must have good time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be organized, self-motivated with have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving and decision making abilities, and the ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team.
- Good communication and professional attitude and work ethics.
- Previous experience with Paycor, PointClickCare and Abila/MIP is useful.
