Patient Financial Advocate - Bilingual

Job Description: Provides financial counseling to uninsured/underinsured patients by screening for potential Medicaid eligibility, assisting with the application process through determination, providing education regarding the Affordable Care Act and assisting with navigation through the marketplace, arranging payment plans, generating price quotes and providing Intermountain Health Financial Assistance Applications. This position is Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am-6:00pm and Monday-Wednesday 1:30pm-10pm Schedule - This position is Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am-6:00pm and Monday-Wednesday 1:30pm-10pm Meets with patients and screens for potential Medicaid/State Public Benefit eligibility according to state based guidelines. Completes and submits appropriate applications to Department of Human Services or MA Site as applicable. Follows up through determination. Educates patients about the Affordable Care Act, including potential eligibility during both open enrollment and in the situation of a life qualifying events. Explains qualified health plans, essential health benefits, differences in plan affordability, premium tax credits, and cost sharing. Assists individuals navigating through the web based State or Federal Marketplace. Meets with patients to review and process financial assistance applications. Ensures completeness, verifies supporting documentation, runs credit reports and determines eligibility. Provides procedure Price Quotes to patients. Assists uninsured expectant mothers who are ineligible for public benefits to sign up for Intermountain Health’s Uninsured Maternity Program. Assists patients with Prescription Reimbursement programs. Provides patients with an Explanation of Benefits and answers questions related to coverage and billing. Completes Point of Service Collections of co-pays, deductibles, and deposits. Arranges payment plans and processes contract payments in Wells Fargo system and Epic. Demonstrates discretion in verbal and written communication with patients and Intermountain Health staff ensuring patient confidentiality at all times Ability to read, understand and apply personal tax return information and profit/loss statements. Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent customer service skills, both written and verbal. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients and their families, physicians, nursing personnel and co- workers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of State and Federal Programs available Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, SSDI, and SSI qualification Knowledge and understanding of the 501r Regulation, and Intermountain's Financial Assistance Policy Remains current with the Connect for Health Colorado programs and maintains certification. Patient Financial Specialist – Platte Valley Bilingual (Spanish) is required. Schedules and meets with patients for Colorado Indigent Care Program (CICP) determination. Review and process applications, ensuring completeness, verifying supporting documents, and determining level of eligibility for CICP. Verifies, documents, and/or updates patient demographic information and patient account notes for all interactions/transactions in CICP software and/or EPIC. Images/scans application and all required supporting documents. Provides patients with CICP card. Educates patients of responsibilities and exclusions of contract benefits. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
