Position Summary:
In collaboration with the Executive Director of Mission, the Associate Director of Mission will support the SCL Community as it focuses on sustaining its mission and charism into the future. The Associate Director will be a critical thought partner and key contributor in shaping the development of the Office of Mission. They will also provide strategic, administrative, and implementation support to the Office of Mission in response to primarily internal constituencies. This position will also be a leader in incorporating concepts guiding the global church, such as Integral Ecology and Synodality, into the organizational culture.
Job Duties:
- Lead in implementing and coordinating processes identified by the SCL Leadership Team needed for strategic mission planning, decision-making, and initiative implementation within established parameters.
- Rooted in the SCL Mission and Charism, foster an environment that builds an organizational culture in which all are partners in mission.
- Support processes for visioning mission expression into the future, through lens of integral ecology and keeping in mind the critical needs of God’s people.
- Develop and implement a curriculum to engage and form lay partners (SCL Associates, organizational leaders, and all staff) in the SCL heritage, spirituality, and Catholic Social Teaching.

- Serve as a content expert to support departments who share our Mission and Values externally.
- Research and develop opportunities for Sisters, Associates, and staff to participate in mission and service activities together.
- Engage with current or new committees or initiatives to provide mission expertise and guidance.
- Leadership of the Mission Team to ensure it meets organizational and mission-related goals.
- Create dialogue opportunities with diverse and marginalized populations to explore and identify critical needs.
- Support for resolving operational challenges experienced by Mission departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Comfortable with communal decision-making processes.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the life of Catholic women religious with ability to support the SCL philosophy of care, compassion, and concern.
- Understanding of and commitment to Catholic Social Teaching.
- Strong knowledge of and commitment to SCL mission and Vincentian charism.
- Strong project management and program implementation skills.
- Ability to develop curriculum and learning materials for a range of audiences and various mediums.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and verbal / written communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively on a team.
- Able to create, modify, and implement structures based on a systems-thinking perspective.
- Highly effective communication and coaching skills, including maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:
- The ability to sit for extended periods of time and perform computer work.
- The ability to move around the office and perform tasks such as filing and retrieving documents.
- The ability to attend meetings in different locations within the campus.
- The position may also require occasional travel, which may involve sitting for extended periods on airplanes or in cars.
- Candidates should be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
- Candidates should have good vision and hearing, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
