What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Services Operator position at Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth?
The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth are currently seeking a part-time Motor Services Operator. PT/PRN (As needed). Candidate must be very flexible; this position requires you to work, day, night, and weekend hours as needed. The schedule will differ each week, and split shifts may be required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs basic vehicle maintenance and diagnostic analysis.
- Drive a passenger car, handicap ramp van, and a 15-passenger bus.
- Ability to remain calm with passengers, and properly operate the vehicle under a variety of road and weather conditions.
- Transports passengers to various locations, choosing the best route, and making predetermined departure and arrival times.
- Assists passengers, and wheelchair-bound residents, in entering and exiting vehicles and buildings, both locally and in the metro area.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, passengers, SCL staff, physician’s office staff and the public.
- Maintains high level of confidentiality especially regarding Sisters’ medical/physical matters.
- Provide focus and attention while driving to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to vehicles.
- Answers and responds to calls at all times for services by cell phone.
- Maintains daily records of passengers, destinations, time and mileage.
- Prepares reports of any driving incidents or hazards.
- Checks and schedules maintenance of, and washing and cleaning, vehicles and garages.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years driving, chaffeur or related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of vehicles, maintenance and diagnostic analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of city and local area roads.
- Knowledge of traffic and safety rules.
Working Conditions:
- Requires an employee to work outdoors, in a vehicle, and in office settings.
- Some tasks require an employee to work in an environment that involves exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors and toxic chemicals, and fuels that may cause burns.
- Employee is exposed to extreme temperature changes and work in extreme temperatures both winter and summer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job requires an employee to walk, stand, sit ride, twist, grasp, pull, bend, stoop, reach, or climb.
- Requires an employee to carry/lift up to 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to push up to 300 pounds.
- Possess eye/hand/foot coordination adequate to assist passengers and/or wheelchairs in and out of a car or van.
