What does a General Maintenance Worker do?
1. Integrates the charism, mission and philosophy of the Sisters of Notre Dame in all services.
2. Performs routine preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, such as, replacing filters and annual maintenance on HVAC units, electrical and refrigeration equipment, and systems.
3. Performs minor repairs and replaces light bulbs, filters, and ceiling tiles.
4. Assists with the moving of equipment, furniture, deliveries, etc.
5. Paints and/or refinishes ceilings, wall, woodwork, door, floors, and windowsills.
6. Uses appropriate tools to construct or repair equipment, furnishings, or appliances.
7. Performs basic skilled carpentry, plumbing and electrical functions.
8. Assists in the maintenance of the buildings of the SND Center/Houses on and off campus.
9. Assists with snow removal, as needed.
10.Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
1. High School graduate or GED with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC/Refrigeration a plus (or willingness to learn).
2. Must have a positive attitude, possess good communication skills and be customer service oriented.
3. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of safety procedures.
4. Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. and operate power tools.
5. Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for extended periods of time.
6. Must have a valid driver’s license and drive various trucks and vans.
7. Must be able to establish and rearrange priorities as well as understand and take direction.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will require on-call responsibilities which may require working evening and weekend shifts when necessary. There may be exposure to hazardous chemicals, detergents, and other related compounds and exposure to moderate and/or heavy noise levels. Employee must live the mission of SND USA and maintain and build a positive work environment.
