Environmental Services Aide

SUMMARY

Employee is responsible for the general cleanliness of Providence Hall's 1st floor.

Employee will be responsible for preparing the Community Room and Havlik Center for activities and assist other housekeepers when needed. Responsible for cleaning The Church of the Immaculate Conception. Employee will required to work approximately 2 hours every 4th Sunday morning if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

· Transport waste to main collection area, including hazardous waste and recycling.

· Clean and stock public restrooms located on 1st floor of Providence Hall.

· Clean and maintain floor care in dining room, hallways, offices and public rooms.

· Maintain cleanliness of common areas and offices located on 1st floor of Providence Hall.

· Prepare community room and Havlik Center for various activities. This includes following an emailed schedule of how the rooms are to be set and at what date and time. Following events, the room must be re-set back to normal.

· Report any unusual situations, behaviors, etc., of Sisters to Director.

· Assist Sisters as needed.

· Assist housekeepers with any extra help they may need.

· Document departmental checklists or inspections.

· Provide prompt response and assistance in emergency.

· When time permits, applicant must be willing to be trained in all other areas of housekeeping.

Safety and Sanitation Standards

· Use and store equipment and supplies safely.

· Use only authorized chemicals and agents as directed.

· Practice posted precautions in resident environment.

· Proper use of PPE when dispensing chemicals.

· Assist with blood spill clean-up with direction from licensed nurse.

· Adhere to facility infection control policies and procedures.

· Report faulty equipment to supervisor.

· Follow emergency and evacuation procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

· Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality

· Courteous manner when dealing with Sisters, coworkers or the public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Previous housekeeping experience in an institutional setting preferred but not mandatory.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical

· Will need to continuously stand, walks, reach, bend to floor, twist, sit.

· Must be able to lift, move or reposition facility furniture, and resident room furniture, including beds, chairs, and housekeeping cart.

· Circular arm and shoulder movements to clean mirrors and wash windows.

· Requires varying degrees of pushing, pulling and lifting depending on weight of solutions, containers, and supplies, sometimes up to 25 pounds unassisted or furniture up to 100 pounds with human assistance or mechanical device.

· Must have hand/ eye coordination sufficient to measure, pour and mix chemicals in solution for cleaning, stocking housekeeping cart and moving and replacing items when damp dusting horizontal surfaces.

· Must be able to identify resident placement and objects in rooms and hallways.

· Must be able to focus.

Sensory

· Must be able to hear normal sounds and voice patterns with constant background noise.

· Must be able to receive and follow · verbal instructions.

· Must be able to respond to audible emergency signals, alarms, and telephones.

· Must be able to smell smoke and offensive environment odors.

· Must be able to identify resident placement and objects in rooms and hallways.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled setting. There is a frequent exposure to dust, and other hazardous materials such as chemicals identified in the MSDS manual. There is seldom exposure to sudden fluctuations in temperature. There is continuous exposure to latex or vinyl, plastic and materials used for personal protective equipment.

EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

In the event of an emergency, employee must be physically able to assist in Sister evacuations.
