Long Island Immigration - Housekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY: The Housekeeper performs daily, and scheduled custodian tasks in the Long Island Immigration Clinic as assigned by the Building Coordinator and/or designee. They are a collaborative team member in the day-to-day maintenance of the facility for the enjoyment, cleanliness, and safety of residents and employees. This is a Part Time position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience of one year with cleaning equipment preferred.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to be able to bend, stoop and twist.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Well-groomed and appropriately dressed.

Good common sense.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but is not limited to):

Know and carry out the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph - to unite neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God.

Maintain the areas assigned in a clean, sanitary, and attractive condition.

Maintain cleaning equipment in good condition.

Remove garbage in all clinic spaces, including offices and bathrooms.

Clean all bathrooms in assigned areas.

Vacuum rugs and clean/dust/mop all spaces, including offices, meeting spaces, and hallways.

Water indoor and outdoor plants throughout the clinic space.

Sweeping/cleaning of external entryways to the clinic, and cleaning of external windows.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Coordinator and/or designee.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a living with assistance. It may also be subject to dark, enclosed, or tight spaces to clean. This role routinely uses various equipment including but not limited to:

Equipment - mop, broom, dustpan, cloths, brushes, dusters, etc.

Supplies: glass, furniture, toilet, and floor cleaners, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly uses hands and fingers to handle, grasp, feel or operate objects or equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move utilize tools, bend, carry, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, or otherwise move objects. This position involves standing, kneeling, and bending most of the time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision acuity to perform activities within arm's reach and to adjust focus.
