T he Sisters of St. Joseph is one of the largest Catholic women's religious organizations on Long Island. We are looking for night shift LPNs or RNs , Pier Diem, Part-time, or Full-time, to work at our Rockaway Park convent.
POSITION SUMMARY :
The LPN or RN assumes responsibility for specific nursing functions within the scope of licensing as delegated by the Administrator. The LPN or RN functions as a member of the Nursing Staff in cooperation with other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS :
An active New York State LPN or RN certification, NEW nurses are welcome to apply!!
Long term care experience preferred.
Sound supervisory and nursing judgement is essential.
CPR certification is required.
Commitment to continuing professional development including active participation in in-service classes.
Ability to relate to sisters-residents professionally and with understanding and sensitivity.
Sense of Urgency.
Current knowledge in nursing techniques and care programs.
Ability to accept suggestions and direction.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
Experience with EMR programs, with Matrix a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but is not limited to) :
Provide continuing assessment of Sisters-residents' nursing needs and, under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Supervisor or Manager, offer follow-up nursing care services.
Offer each Sister-resident personal, compassionate attention in an atmosphere conducive to physical and mental health.
Act as advocate and address emotional and psychological needs.
Apply knowledge of drugs, drug interactions, diagnostic tests and other therapeutic modalities based on established principles and precautions.
Administer medications and treatments, as prescribed.
Utilize nursing assessments skills to evaluate changing health needs; identify and respond appropriately to these needs.
Perform health assessments on new admits and those recuperating to the Convent.
Teach and counsel on treatments and care plans and well as answering questions.
Execute medical regiments as prescribed by licensed physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and podiatrists.
Contribute as members of the interdisciplinary health team and health related committees to plan and implement health care for the Sisters.
Maintain current and accurate electronic medication administration records according to protocol.
Document all changes in physical, emotional or cognitive status.
Monitor and instruct LPN's and nurse's aides in giving safe quality care.
Assist with orientation and skill training of new LPN's and nurse's aides.
Work with Pastoral Team.
Cooperate with other in-house departments in creating a safe and healthy environment.
Create, implement and evaluate care plans with the medical team.
Consult with supervisors & doctors to decide on the best treatment plan.
Read and interpret information and make treatment decisions as appropriate.
Perform any and all duties necessary for the well-being of the Sisters-residents.

Compensation for this position is based upon license and experience level.
