Job Summary
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to prevent and control infections within our facility. This includes providing education and training to staff, conducting surveillance and monitoring outbreaks, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) to ensure the quality of patient care as it relates to the investigation, control, and prevention of infections and communicable diseases.
- Provide education and training to new hires and existing staff on infection prevention and control practices, including support during new hire orientation.
- Create and implement education programs in response to identified infection control needs through QAPI, rounding, center quality measures, or other means.
- Support the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Must complete specialized training in infection prevention and control within 90 days of hire.
- A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience is required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours to meet with employees working evening and night shifts.
