Position Overview

The Business Development Manager plays a vital role in the sales organization at SiteOne. This role is responsible for prospecting new accounts and expanding margin dollars in under-penetrated accounts.

What you'll do:

  • Daily review of equipment inventory levels
  • Work with local management and vendors (Stocking, manufacturer special, shipping        discounts, volume pricing)
  • Develop marketing ideas that increase sales (flyers, promotions, product bundles, and social media)

 

Financial:

  • Drive sales growth
  • Work with category to grow margin in equipment; mix and promotion
  • Work with local management and sales teams to ensure proper and efficient inventory levels
  • Partner and strengthen relationships with our vendors and Category Management

Customer Facing:

  • Coordinate & execute demos in the field for end-user customers for all lines of equipment
  • Help perform new equipment deliveries to customers as well as the operational setup of the equipment if needed
  • Assist customers with minor technical equipment issues and guidance when needed
  • Attend local industry shows and represent all our SiteOne equipment lines

Field Team Building:

  • Ensure strong teamwork in stores and outside sellers toward driving equipment sales growth
  • Help recruit, train, and develop all associates on all the equipment we carry
  • Be a visible leader in stores to help drive sales performance and new initiatives, as well as coach and support team members within the equipment LOB
  • Educate associates on our lines of equipment and how to utilize it best as well as sell it

 


Skills We Are Seeking

  • 3 to 5 years of new customer sales experience
  • 1 to 3 years of green industry experience and knowledge of landscape, irrigation, or nursery products preferred
  • Experience with turf and ornamental equipment required: application spray tanks, ride-on spreader/sprayers, push spreaders, etc.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment issues: Mechanical, parts, etc
  • Experience with some level of inventory/P&L responsibility preferred
  • Proven prospecting, negotiation, conflict resolution, and customer service skills, as well as proven approach to access decision makers at client organizations
  • Knowledge of sales cycle and solution selling techniques
  • Ability to communicate value proposition and differentiate SiteOne products and services
  • Ability to think quickly and make decisions
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • College degree in a Business/Management discipline or related experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
