Position Overview
As the Director of Project and Portfolio Management, you will play a vital role in refining and executing our program management best practices, ensuring excellence in planning, communication, risk mitigation, and overall team dynamics. Collaborating closely with senior leaders, you will enhance team performance and foster the growth of leaders and collaborative cross-functional teams in our dynamic, matrixed environment. You will also oversee critical portfolio-level functions such as resource planning and guide the alignment of our corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Planning Leadership : Spearhead the strategic planning and execution of cross-functional initiatives, overseeing resource allocation and conducting financial assessments to optimize program performance.
- Team Management : Oversee program team operations, ensuring clarity in decision-making processes, effective risk management, and prompt issue resolution.
- Mentorship and Guidance : Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and cross-functional members, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Process Improvement : Identify and drive process enhancements, implementing best practices to boost efficiency and alignment throughout the organization.
- Reporting and Communication : Prepare and present comprehensive program and portfolio reports, including dashboards and status updates, to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Leadership Collaboration : Work alongside Project Team Leaders and functional heads to harmonize team objectives with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Facilitate effective communication across teams, expertly managing expectations and keeping stakeholders aligned on program developments.
Education and Experience Requirements
Educational Background : A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; an advanced degree is preferred. PMP certification is an asset.
Experience : Candidates should have 8 years of project management experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, demonstrating strong familiarity with program management tools and methodologies (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project). Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, managing complex projects, and promoting continuous improvement is essential.
