Electric Meter Technician- Denver

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour DOE

Essential Functions:

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Driving (75%/day) and navigating throughout the municipal area
• Entering residential and commercial property to access the electric meter to perform required work
• Services provided: installing, reading, testing, disconnecting, and/or reconnecting the electric meter as well as investigation and troubleshooting of electric metering services
• Working with energized electrical equipment to respond to meter issues for Xcel Energy
• Providing customer service with a responsibility to humility and to the customers we serve
• Working with a safety-first mindset, pride and a high quality of detail and workmanship

Success Factors:

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
• English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

• Two (2 ) plus years of customer service experience
• One (1 ) plus years of working with electricity and on ladders preferred
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
