Job Summary
SiTime is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Customer Engineer for the Customer Engineering Team. This position will engage with customers and solve their timing challenges, delivering complete system-level timing solutions using SiTime’s broad portfolio of oscillators, buffers, clock generators, and network synchronizers. This process involves understanding the system timing requirements and defining technical timing solutions factoring in competitive positioning and technology trends. You will contribute to various technical customer support activities including defining complete clock trees, application-based lab measurements, leading the debug effort in customer systems, leading technical training on SiTime products, and data collection to support technical collateral.
The candidate will have broad technical knowledge and in-depth experience in system timing and synchronization requirements for a variety of applications including networking & time synchronization using IEEE1588, RF systems, radio systems, guidance systems and munitions systems. It is not necessary to meet all job requirements to be a qualified candidate for the position.
Responsibilities:
- Support the design-in process by collaborating with Sales on technical product positioning to customers. This will include delivering technical presentations to customers and answering questions in meetings.
- Deliver system-level timing solutions to customers, harnessing the broad SiTime portfolio of resonators, XO’s, TCXO’s, OCXO’s, clock buffers, clock generators, network synchronizers, and IEEE1588 time synchronization solutions.
- Design follow-up support to include answering follow-up questions, customer schematic and layout reviews.
- First responder to customer issues including debug support.
- System and component measurements using measurement equipment such as high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, frequency counters, specialized Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEE1588 test-sets.
- Design and create test configurations and scenarios to match customer application profiles. Compile test results and prepare customer and marketing presentations.
- Support in defining new products to be developed for the market, including the interaction with SiTime’s engineering organization to identify the best and most successful product architecture.
Qualifications & Requirement:
- BS in engineering 10 years of work experience.
- Prior experience with timing components or systems.
- Understanding of key technical aspects of precision timing such as Allan Deviation (ADEV), phase holdover, jitter, aging, retrace, frequency and phase stability.
- Experience in characterization, testing, and data analysis of typical clock parameters such as frequency stability over temperature, phase noise, ADEV, TDEV, jitter, phase error, vibration sensitivity, shock sensitivity, using measurement and control software such as Matlab.
- Experience in working with customers on engineering problems and architectures.
- Good communication skills able to interact and present to customers and government agencies.
- US citizen.
Desired Characteristics & Attributes:
- MS or PhD in engineering.
- Multi-disciplinary engineering problem solving skills.
- Experience working with timing systems in a laboratory.
- Experience with applications such as GPS, A-PNT, RF, Radar, time synchronization.
- Experience in working with government agencies such as DARPA, ARL, AFRL, NRL, etc.

Base pay is one part of SiTime’s Total Rewards Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity-based compensation.

Salary : $135,000 - $215,000
