Sitka Nursery is a brand-new plant nursery opening in Spring 2025! We are dedicated to providing high-quality plants, expert gardening advice, and exceptional customer service. As we prepare to launch, we’re seeking a Greenhouse Manager to oversee greenhouse operations and play a key leadership role in our growing business.
Position Summary:
The Greenhouse Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of our greenhouse, focusing on the production and care of annuals, perennials, houseplants, and tropical plants. This role includes opening the nursery in the morning and maintaining the greenhouse's functionality and productivity. Additionally, the Greenhouse Manager will serve as the Assistant Nursery Manager in the absence of the Nursery Manager, ensuring smooth operations across the entire nursery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee greenhouse operations, including the production and maintenance of annuals and perennials.
- Provide expert care for houseplants and tropical plants, ensuring optimal health and presentation.
- Open the nursery approximately 4 days per week, preparing it for operations and customer visits.
- Manage watering schedules, pest control, fertilization, and environmental conditions in the greenhouse.
- Train and supervise greenhouse staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Assist customers with plant care advice and product selection as needed.
- Act as Assistant Nursery Manager when the Nursery Manager is not on-site, taking charge of overall nursery operations.
- Maintain greenhouse cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in greenhouse operations, plant production, or nursery management.
- Strong knowledge of annuals, perennials, houseplants, and tropical plant care.
- Leadership and team management experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Passion for plants, gardening, and working in a dynamic, green environment.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
