The current opening is for a General Obstetrician & Gynecologist position to join the faculty of an established academic practice in Springfield at the rank of Assistant Professor. Position responsibilities include clinical OB/GYN care with oversight and teaching of medical students and residents. In addition to developing an active general OB/GYN private practice, with emphasis on providing the highest quality of care, the faculty member will provide ongoing evaluation and modification of the medical student, resident, and fellow graduate medical curriculum.
Examples of Duties
I. Teaching 20%

Examples of Duties
I. Teaching 20%
- Provide ongoing evaluation and modification of the medical student and resident graduate medical
- Conduct seminars, rounds, discussions, etc., on a regular basis with medical students, residents, and
- Provide student evaluations of learning modules during each clinical medical student clerkship rotation.
- Serve as a resident fellow, and student mentor when requested by the Clerkship Director, Residency
- Participate in continuing medical education programs in Obstetrics and Gynecology at local and
- Serve as academic advisor for undergraduate students in Springfield.
- Actively participate in the SIU Medicine Mission with emphasis on clinical teaching as well as patient
- Hold appointments or committee assignments on state and national medical societies and hospital
- Provide, as assigned, 24-hour in house call shift coverage to supervise OB/GYN residents and medical

- Develop an active general obstetrics and gynecology private practice with emphasis on providing the
electronic prescribing and quality measurers as determined by SIU Medicine and the Department of
OB/GYN, as directed by the Chair.
- Provide attending coverage for the gynecological service on a weekly basis (4 to 8 weeks a year,
for gynecological and obstetrical patients at Memorial Medical Center, including bi-weekly
gynecological rounds.
- Staff resident clinics and surgical cases as assigned.

III. Research 5%
- Conduct basic/clinical research projects and quality projects suitable for peer review publications.
- Departmental – Participate in various departmental meetings and activities related to overall

Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an approved residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Board Certified or eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Eligible for MD licensure in the State of Illinois
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations
