Temporary position for 2024-2025 school year, expected to end 6/12/2025.

 

Salary Schedule is based on the 2024-2025 school year.   New hires typically begin at Step 1 on the Salary Schedule.

 

This is a 10-month temporary position, that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.  May be eligible to apply for other open opportunities to fill when assignment ends.

 

All offers of employment are contingent upon board approval and the applicant’s satisfactory completion of a drug screening test (including marijuana), background and reference checks. Siuslaw School District strives to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for all employees.

 

 

TITLE: TEMPORARY Independent Educational Aide, Classified, .875 FTE, Siuslaw Middle School (7 hours per day 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal(s)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two year associates degree (AA) or Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) certification as required by law for schools funded by Title I funds.
  • Previous experience in a school setting preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Data entry for student discipline.
  • Student Center Supervisor.
  • Manage low-level discipline corrections.
  • Coordinate with counselors and classroom teachers to enact student-specific plans.
  • Work closely with students to manage specific medical needs.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment to make quick decision regarding student physical, emotional and academic needs.
  • Other related duties as assigned by building Principal.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to organize and maintain efficient time schedule.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students and the public.
  • Good communication, organization and computer skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work with students of varying ability levels, including angry and disruptive students.
  • Emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task, except for temporary disability.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills in order to work collaboratively with a variety of school personnel, as well as parents of students with disabilities and/or unique needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in a wide variety of locations, including school environments.
  • May work with high stress student, family, or personnel situations.
  • May require occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Involves bending, lifting, crouching, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, fine manipulation, twisting/turning and repetitive movements.
  • Requires the use of computers and office equipment.
  • Applicant must be compliant with the Oregon Health Authroity's rules related to the COVID-19 vaccination. 

CONDITIONS: This is a classified 10 month position.

 

SALARY: Will be determined by terms of the current negotiated agreement. The amount due under the contract will be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.

 

EVALUATION:   Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
