Salary Schedule is based on the 2024-2025 school year.  New hires typically begin at Stp1 on the Salary Schedule.

This is a 10-month/renewable position, that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.  The Food Service Worker works from a 183 day calendar.

All offers of employment are contingent upon board approval and the applicant’s satisfactory completion of a drug screening test (including marijuana), background and reference checks. Siuslaw School District strives to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for all employees.

TITLE: Food Service Worker, .875 FTE (7 hours per day), Monday - Friday , 8:15am - 3:45pm (includes a 30 minute lunch)

SUMMARY: 

The Food Service Worker performs a variety of routine and semi routine food service activities such as preparing, cooking and baking of foods in volume. The Food Service Worker will also assist in the planning of all meals during their shift, serving and clean-up of food service facilities.

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• 18 years of age or older.
• One year of experience in food service, preferred.
• Ability to prepare food and work with portion control.
• Ability to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens and other related school kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety practices and precautions.
• Ability to supervise student helpers who work in the kitchen/cafeteria.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents and staff.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy.
• Knowledge of basic math skills; counting, addition, subtraction, division, etc.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Responsible for food preparation, in a safe manner.
• Prepare and serve food.
• Assist in the setup of serving areas.
• Assist in the serving of food to students and staff, making sure supplies of food and beverages are maintained and spills are cleaned up.
• Responsible for proper storage of food and supplies.
• Responsible for daily cleaning and storage of equipment.
• Responsible for following standards of efficiency and sanitation set by the Health Department and Food Service Manager.
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of food and equipment.
• Cash handling and making of change for students and staff.
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff.
• Participate in in-service training as assigned.
• Act as a friendly ambassador for the Siuslaw School District.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:

• Must possess a valid Food Handler’s Certificate or be able to get one within 30 days (OAR 333.175.000).
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
• First Aid Training and CPR Certification required (training provided by District).
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
• Pre-employment drug screening.

PHYSICAL/WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Moderate degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting and prolonged periods of standing.
• Exposure to noise, heat, cold, hot and cold surfaces, sharp and moving equipment.
• Requires coordination and dexterity to prepared foods.
• Ability to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas to perform food preparation and food service duties.
• Work environment is primarily in a school building environment, and may include work performed outdoors.

CONDITIONS:   

This is a classified 10-month position.

SALARY:              

Will be determined by terms of the current negotiated agreement. The amount due under the contract will be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.
