Salary Schedule is based on the 2024-2025 school year. New hires typically begin at Step 1 on the Salary Schedule. The Siuslaw School District allows step credit the salary scale for years of certified teaching experience.
This is a 12-month position, that includes benefits of paid medical and leave.

TITLE: Transportation/Facility Secretary, 1.0FTE
JOB TYPE: This is a classified position
RESPONSIBLE TO: Transportation Supervisor
ASSIGNMENT: Under direct supervision, the Transportation Secretary performs a variety of work related to student transportation. The position requires some use of independent judgment, but the work is generally performed under well defined rules, standards, policies, and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer skills using applications such as MS Word, Excel, email etc.
- General office procedures and office machines. (computer/fax, and copier)
- Radio dispatch and transportation experience. (preferred but not required)
- A/P and/or invoice reconciliation experience. (preferred but not required)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide day-to-day logistics support to the Transportation Department.
- Process invoices and purchase orders for Transportation & Facilities Departments
- Monitor radio base station/two-way radio transmission while buses are on the road; provide information and assistance to drivers as required.
- Operate a multi-line phone system.
- Maintain student database, process transportation registration requests and bus stop. assignments. Update database as needed and provide student rider lists for driver reference.
- Provide friendly and timely communication to parents/guardians regarding transportation details; relay bus arrival/departure schedules, bus stop assignments, and procedural information.
- Coordinate notifications when regularly scheduled bus operations are interrupted due to weather; or other issue(s) that delay services. Contact emergency services when required.
- Perform data collection and spreadsheet tracking for annual reporting requirements.
- Maintain bus route schedules for home-to-school transportation using computer-aided resources and applications.
- Analyze, maintain records of, and prepare reports on a variety of subjects related to pupil transportation including fuel usage, odometer readings and mileage tracking.
- Calculate cost and submit invoices to departments who have utilized school buses for field trip(s) or school sporting event transportation.
- Maintain confidential student behavior reports, bus videos, and health records.
- Reconcile and code department invoices and submit to district for approval/payment.
- Perform other varied clerical duties as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed primarily at a desk, in an office environment, at the Transportation Building.
- Frequent walking throughout the transportation office and bus garage when required.
- May work with high stress student, family, or personnel situations.
- Requires the use of computers and office equipment.
- May require occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Involves bending, lifting, crouching, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, fine manipulation, twisting/turning and repetitive movements.
CONDITIONS: This is a classified 12 month position.
SALARY: Will be determined by terms of the current negotiated agreement. The amount due under the contract will be pro-rated monthly in accordance with district policy.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
