We are currently hiring an Automation Engineer (Intern).
Position Summary: Join our diverse team of engineers to design, assemble, and release a wide variety of custom equipment to our on-site manufacturing line. Take ownership of a project as you work with a small team to apply your engineering knowledge in a hands-on environment. Experience first-hand the complex and exciting engineering required to make industrial machinery in our niche field.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support on projects as directed. Projects may include:
- Designing and assembling electrical panels.
- Designing and fabricating various mechanical parts.
- Writing PLC and/or HMI software.
- Creating and optimizing machine vision for defect detection and reporting.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete assigned projects and tasks in a timely manner.
- Present project results at the end of the summer to management and the rest of the Automation team.
Qualifications:
Education: Currently pursuing a B.S. or greater in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
General Requirements:
- Basic understanding of low-level programming and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with any of:
- Electrical Engineering topics (e.g., fundamentals of electricity, schematics, basic analog circuits, electrical panel design).
- Mechanical Engineering topics (e.g., fundamentals of physics and mechanics, SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, mechanical design, GD&T, 3D printing).
- Mechatronics Engineering topics (e.g., interfacing actuators with embedded systems, driving motors, more advanced low-level programming).
- Logical trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Good organizational skills.
- Fast learner, self-motivated, and accomplishment driven.
- Ability to work productively in a small-team setting, and occasionally work solo.
- Working knowledge of PCs, Windows, and MS Office Suite.
Physical Attributes Required:
- Sitting, standing, walking, and computer use up to 8 hours/day.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Physical ability to lift 30 pounds and push/pull 10 pounds.
