Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and workplace safety standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, conducting training sessions, and performing risk assessments to promote a safe working environment.
Duties
- Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations and EPA standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide training development for employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, and first aid/CPR techniques.
- Perform root cause analysis on incidents to determine underlying issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records related to occupational health, safety training, and workers' compensation law compliance.
- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Fabricate or modify safety equipment as needed to enhance workplace safety measures.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in an EHS role with a strong understanding of OSHA standards and EPA regulations.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation law and its implications for workplace safety is essential.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to conduct effective training sessions.
- Proficient in developing EHS programs that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
