What you will do:
As our Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will the Manufacturing Engineers with automation projects on the production floor where we make products that help control and monitor one of the world’s most valuable and limited resources – water! This position will work in our Detroit Lakes, MN location.
The Job
At our Detroit Lakes facility, Manufacturing Engineers integrate new products and modifications into production. They develop and improve standardized processes to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency. Using Lean Manufacturing principles, they reduce waste and streamline production. They also follow business systems to make data-driven decisions that maximize return on investment.
The Internship
As our Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will work with the Manufacturing Engineers on the production floor performing various projects tailored to the degree you are pursuing. Some of the projects you may assist with or be responsible for are:
To succeed in this role, you must be willing to listen, observe, and learn the production processes and machines. You must have attention to detail and be willing to fully participate in the internship experience. You must be a self-starter, independent worker and willing to ask questions. You should be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field such as Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical or similar field.

The Internship
As our Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will work with the Manufacturing Engineers on the production floor performing various projects tailored to the degree you are pursuing. Some of the projects you may assist with or be responsible for are:
- The mechanical and electrical design and construction of machinery for production automation
- Using SolidWorks for Solid modeling
- Creating dimensioned drawings from models
- Working with 2D CAD to draw or update electrical schematics and fluid control diagrams
- Wiring 120 VAC power and 24V DC control circuits
- Programming PLCs
- Programming servo controllers and robots
- Testing, debugging and qualifying equipment for production use
