What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internship - Firmware Design Engineer position at SJE?
What you will do:
As our Firmware Design Engineer Intern, you will work closely with our embedded controls team on all aspects of new product development. You will assist with the development of engineered control solutions that support a wide variety of industries, including water/wastewater, industrial controls, lab equipment and smart energy. This position will work in our New Hope, MN location.
The Job:
At our facility in New Hope, Firmware Engineers develop firmware and software solutions for new products that meet specifications, customer/market expectations and follow technological trends.
The Internship:
As a Firmware Engineer Intern, you will work closely with our Firmware Engineers in many areas of embedded control development. You may perform or assist the engineers in the following design activities:
- Development of control firmware in C/C
- Development of tester UI in Python
- Debugging hardware and firmware issues
- Writing requirement specifications
- Participating in design, schematic and code reviews.
The skills you need:
To succeed in this role, you must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should be proficient in C/C and Python in an embedded environment, as well as familiar with ARM-based processors and/or Raspberry Pi CM5. You can set yourself apart by possessing skills such as being familiar with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Modbus, Ethernet/IP or Profinet, can read schematics, debug hardware or have experience with technical writing. You must be a junior or senior in college pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
